I am the only person in the firm and so all work is carried out by me. I qualified in England in 1998.
My normal hourly rate is £395 plus VAT (at the applicable rate, currently 20%). I record my time in units of six minutes and record all time spent, including texts, WhatsApp messages, phone calls and correspondence. It is always difficult to estimate the amount of time that will likely be incurred on any matter and so we would discuss this at the outset and if necessary at regular intervals. I aim to review my rates in April of each year and would not increase those rates without notifying you in advance.
When advising on settlement agreements for individuals, I tend to charge a fixed fee which typically ranges from £500 plus VAT if the matter is straightforward to £5,000 plus VAT for more complex matters. I normally try to match the fixed fee to the Company’s contribution provided that the contribution is a minimum of £500 plus VAT or £750 plus VAT if the agreement require re-signing at a later date.
I no longer do litigation (usually because it is my clients’ interests to seek a settlement instead, whether the client is an employee or employer). As such, I do not charge for disbursements. Expenses such as travel expenses would be discussed with you in advance.
